Overview
SSC CHSL recruits 12th-pass candidates for Lower Divisional Clerk, Junior Secretariat Assistant, Data Entry Operator and Postal/Sorting Assistant posts.
Tier 1 (computer-based, objective) → Tier 2 (computer-based, descriptive paper and skill/typing test depending on the cycle's pattern).
How to apply
Register on the SSC portal, fill the application, upload documents and pay the fee. Women, SC, ST, PwBD and ex-servicemen are exempt from the fee.
Vacancies: Vacancies are announced per cycle.
Eligibility
12th pass from a recognised board (DEO posts in some departments need the Science stream with Mathematics). Typical age limit is 18 to 27 years with category relaxation.

Salary and career growth
Pay Levels 2 to 5, roughly ₹19,900 to ₹92,300 basic pay depending on the post, plus allowances.
Preparation strategy
- Quant and English carry the difference. Build speed on arithmetic and error-spotting first.
- Revise static GK weekly, a little every day beats a big session.
- Practise typing early if the notification includes a typing or skill test.

Is CHSL only for 12th pass?
Yes, the minimum qualification is 12th pass. Graduates can also apply.
